Wheaton Sprague Building Envelope was started by John L. Wheaton, P.E and Richard Sprague in 1994.
What is your primary product or service?
Wheaton Sprague (WS) is a professional services practice with designers, architects, consultants, engineers, and LEED AP’s with technical focus on building facades, building envelopes, curtain walls and roof systems. We provide clients with pragmatic, value-oriented solutions utilizing specialized technical expertise in the design, engineering, construction, manufacturing, forensic analysis, repair and renovation of exterior cladding, curtain wall, and roof systems.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
John Wheaton became passionate about glass and glazing, and about facades in general when he worked for PPG.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Creating Structure Wheaton Sprague is about the business of Creating Structure® for our clients - through the art and science of design, consulting, structural engineering and investigation which facilitates the design, operation, repair, and construction of safe, serviceable structures and building facilities.
Creating Structure® for our clients is about bringing added value through creative and practical problem-solving skills and a focus on maximizing the client’s experience and success. Creating Structure® not only through consulting and engineering, but through our client approach, communication, and quality control, in an effort to help add order and structure to their projects and their businesses.
We work to create the best solutions for the project via technical ingenuity, experience and expertise, a responsive client approach, and a continual pursuit of excellence in all that we do.

How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Wheaton Sprague Building Envelopes presently has offices in Stow, Ohio; Cincinnati, Ohio; Eagan, Minnesota, and an affiliate office in Cary, North Carolina. In the fall of 2016, we are moving into a new building in Stow, OH which allows for expansion of employees.

John L. Wheaton, P.E. owns the company. Daily operations are run by Project Managers and Senior Professional Engineers.
