Wheaton Sprague Building Envelope was started by John L. Wheaton, P.E and Richard Sprague in 1994.
What is your primary product or service?
Wheaton Sprague (WS) is a professional services practice with designers, architects, consultants, engineers, and LEED AP’s with technical focus on building facades, building envelopes, curtain walls and roof systems. We provide clients with pragmatic, value-oriented solutions utilizing specialized technical expertise in the design, engineering, construction, manufacturing, forensic analysis, repair and renovation of exterior cladding, curtain wall, and roof systems.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
John Wheaton became passionate about glass and glazing, and about facades in general when he worked for PPG.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Creating Structure Wheaton Sprague is about the business of Creating Structure® for our clients - through the art and science of design, consulting, structural engineering and investigation which facilitates the design, operation, repair, and construction of safe, serviceable structures and building facilities. Creating Structure® for our clients is about bringing added value through creative and practical problem-solving skills and a focus on maximizing the client’s experience and success. Creating Structure® not only through consulting and engineering, but through our client approach, communication, and quality control, in an effort to help add order and structure to their projects and their businesses. We work to create the best solutions for the project via technical ingenuity, experience and expertise, a responsive client approach, and a continual pursuit of excellence in all that we do. Our goal is that the quality of your experience working with us on the project will be as memorable and remarkable as the quality of the work product you receive from us.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Wheaton Sprague Building Envelopes presently has offices in Stow, Ohio; Cincinnati, Ohio; Eagan, Minnesota, and an affiliate office in Cary, North Carolina. In the fall of 2016, we are moving into a new building in Stow, OH which allows for expansion of employees.

Wheaton Sprague Building Envelope is located near the Hudson border in a business campus off of Steels Corners Rd. in Stow. Exit Rte. 8 coming North or South.
What type of payments do you accept?
We are a business to business firm and set up payments with accounts payable departments.
Which areas do you service?
We do business nationally and have professional engineering licenses in 47 U.S. states.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
John L. Wheaton, P.E. owns the company. Daily operations are run by Project Managers and Senior Professional Engineers.
What are your hours of operation?
Daily 8 - 5.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
They solved my problems. They saved me from ordering too much. There were no problems in the field.
